About RSC

In 2018 at the young age of two, my daughter was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. I advocated for her to be evaluated and to receive early intervention services including speech/language, feeding, and occupational therapies. My extensive experience as a special educator and as a parent to a child with special needs ultimately led me to establishing Rising Scholars Consulting in 2020.

The visual representation of the rising sun is a reminder that there is always a new day ahead. As parents and educators, our job is to help our children rise up and face challenges head on. Additionally, the sunshine logo and theme of “rising” came about from my love for the song, “You Are My Sunshine.” My mother would sing this beloved song to me as a child, which I then passed down as a tradition to my own children. “You Are My Sunshine” has always been a source of comfort to them.

I hope that my work as a special education coach will enable me to continuously give back to the community and families I work with. I am committed to providing high quality education and support in order to help children build a strong foundation and love for life-long learning in and outside of their classrooms.

Hi, I'm Kathryn!

In 2006, as a brand new special education teacher, I nervously led my first of many IEP meetings. 13 years later, I sat down at that table to attend my own daughter’s IEP meeting. I’ve been in the shoes of both an educator and a parent. Fortunately, I’ve had many years of education and experience to advocate for my students and my child. You may have not had that same luxury or ease. That’s why I do this. More than anything, I want to help make a difference in our childrens’ lives. You are in the right place at the right time by just taking this first step. My job is to help you be the best advocate possible for your scholar! I can’t wait to help you on your journey.

Always on your team,
Kathryn

Put your anxiety aside

You already have so many responsibilities. Educational difficulties should not be the first thing on your mind when you wake up or the last thing on your mind before you close your eyes at night.

Rising Scholars Consulting has been essential to our family in many ways. Kathryn has supported our child who has significant learning and behavioral difficulties and provided consulting for needed IEP services. Kathryn really works to establish strong, compassionate relationships with the families and children she interacts with. She has helped us all gain so much confidence!

Kathryn has been a life-saver for my family. She gives my child structure, support, and enrichment. For the first time ever, my child is excited about learning! I have also enjoyed partnering with her for consulting services. Kathryn is extremely professional, organized, and a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend her services to every family!
